Special cards for babies
As part of the NHS70 midwives across North Wales celebrated with a number of different events. Babies born today also received a special commemorative card to mark the occasion.

Children’s Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital are getting involved with the celebrations along with staff at Health Prestatyn, Ruthin Community Hospital, Buckley Medical Centre and the team at Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Celebrations are underway!
We’ve kicked off our NHS70 celebrations by broadcasting live with the BBC from Glan Clwyd Hospital and Ysbyty Gwynedd.
Staff at Llandudno Hospital are joining forces to cycle 70 miles
and the team have put together a display detailing the hospital’s history, and pupils from Ysgol Tudno in Llandudno will later serve afternoon tea to our patients.

An NHS70 'thank you' tea party will be taking place at the entrance to
Ysbyty Gwynedd on the 7 July between 11am and 2pm.
There will be speakers, choirs, medical excellence stands and thank you
cards - bring banners to help make it colourful!

An exhibition of local NHS history
In the lead-up the NHS’ 70th birthday this Thursday, Denbigh Museum are this week holding an exhibition of local NHS history.
The exhibition will feature medical items of historical interest and will provide visitors with an opportunity to see the apparatus used by healthcare professionals of yesteryear.
The Minor Injuries Unit in Denbigh Infirmary will be hosting a Tea and Cakes party on Thursday 5th July at 2-3pm. Patients and visitors alike are all welcome to attend.
Staff singing Jess Glynne 'Hold my Hand'
Our staff joined others working in the NHS across Wales to mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS with a one off performance of Jess Glynne’s hit song Hold My Hand.
It will also be broadcast on BBC Wales just before 7pm today. We hope you enjoy watching as much as we did:
Come and support the staff of Wrexham Maelor Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit who are doing an NHS70 bed push round Wrexham starting from Wrexham Library at 11.30am - 05/07/2018
Our Critical Care nurses will be pushing the bed for 70 minutes around Wrexham centre to raise money for a relaxation garden for patients.
Staff from across the Health Board will be taking part in an NHS 70th birthday swimming gala. The 70 length swimming gala will take place at Wrexham swimming pool on Sunday 15/07/18 to raise money for Awyr Las.
Warm up will be at 12.30 and races from 1-3pm so everyone can get home in time for the World Cup Final.
Staff will be racing against local swimming clubs and there will be a mixture of relays and fun races like raft racing and doggy paddle.
Erddig Park Run
A record breaking 371 people from all over North East Wales turned up to run the Erddig parkrun to help promote wellbeing and living healthily as part of the NHS 70th birthday celebrations which is the highest number of runners Erddig parkrun has ever seen.
The initiative, known as 'parkrun for the NHS,' aims to recognise the contribution of the NHS
to the health of the nation and inspire people to take part in physical activity and volunteering.
